Detailed Specifications of Saudi Aramco Type 2 Fence
Chain Link Fabrics
The chain link fabric must feature a diamond mesh pattern with a 50 mm (±3.2 mm) opening, complying with ASTM A392 standards. The height should be 2400 mm (±12 mm), providing adequate coverage for security needs. The fabric's top and bottom edges should be machine-twisted, creating a barbed finish by cutting the wire at an angle. Standard rolls are 15 meters in length and must be woven continuously without any splices, ensuring uniform strength and durability throughout the roll.
Wire Enhancements
Tension Wire
The zinc-coated tension wire used in chain link fencing must adhere to ASTM A641/A641M, Class III standards. This wire should have a galvanized coating of at least 244 g/m² (0.80 oz/ft²) of surface area, ensuring excellent corrosion resistance and durability. The wire should have a nominal diameter of at least 4.5 mm and possess a minimum breaking strength of 6230 N (1400 lb), providing the necessary tensile strength to maintain the structural integrity and security of the fence.
Stirrup Wire
Stirrup wire provides additional support and attachment points, often connecting the vertical posts to the mesh or chain-link fabric. It reinforces the fence at points of high stress, distributing loads and pressures evenly across the structure. This helps the fence resist deformation and damage from external forces, enhancing its durability and security.
Tie wire
Tie wire is used to secure the mesh or chain-link fabric to the tension wire and posts. It wraps around the fabric and the tension wire or posts, holding the fabric firmly in place. The tie wire for chain link fencing must be galvanized according to ASTM A641/A641M standards, with a coating of at least 244 g/m² (0.80 oz/ft²) of surface area to match the fence fabric. This ensures strong resistance to corrosion and environmental wear. The wire should have a nominal diameter of at least 3.0 mm and a length of 250 mm (±10 mm), providing reliable fastening and maintaining the integrity of the fencing system.
Barbed Wire
Barbed wire for chain link fencing must consist of two twisted strands of galvanized steel, each with a nominal diameter of no less than 2.5 mm. Four barbs, each with a nominal diameter of at least 2 mm, should be spaced 125 mm (±20 mm) apart and wrapped to interlock with both main strands for enhanced security. The galvanized steel barbed wire must comply with ASTM A121 standards, ensuring high durability and resistance to corrosion.

Line and Corner Posts
Made from galvanized steel, these posts support the structural integrity and alignment of the fence. Adhering to ASTM A-53 Sch.40 standards, they provide necessary support and are equipped with caps to prevent water ingress.
Fittings
All fittings, including extension arms, bands, and bolts, comply with ASTM F626, ensuring durability and a perfect fit.
